History/Bio:
A native of New Melbourne, Amyas Raeburn had a deep interest in the ocean since his earliest childhood memories. Born to Tami and Carl Raeburn, a majority of Amyas’ childhood was spent either on the open seas, on the beach, or at the shipyard where his parents worked. Both Tami and Carl worked at the Poseidon Shipyards that oversaw the production of the most advanced ocean-going vessels that had ever been conceived by human minds. With a mother working among the engineering teams to design and construct newer and more capable vessels and a father who often designed, built, and tested his own creations, Amyas was constantly surrounded by all things technical and mechanical.
As the boy grew, his love for the ocean grew with him, many times finding himself among the waves that crashed against the shores of New Melbourne. Often times he found himself staring off towards the high rises of Old Melbourne as they rose out of the sea like monoliths of a forgotten era. Even if the towers were now repurposed and reinforced to be used by entrepreneurs who sought to reuse what already existed, Amyas found himself in awe of how differently the world was before his time. This newfound awe and wonder, coupled with his pre-existing love for the ocean, defined much during the rest of his growing years and crafted the mindset that defined who he was as a person.
While attending a mathematics and science conference for students of area schools during his last year of secondary education, Amyas Raeburn found himself a moment of pride and joy for his parents that he already looked up to and honoured. The conference was already held in an unusual location, the top flight deck of one of New Melbourne’s supercavitation submersible carriers from its defense force, though its focus point was even more unusual, albeit surprising. There on the main flight deck of the hydrodynamically shaped vessel of amazing engineering marvel were three of the latest models of strike crafts capable of supersonic supercavitation flight and hypersonic aerial flight designed and constructed by his parents and their respective teams. Having already had an interest in becoming a pilot of one of these magnificent machines, his parents called on him specifically to test fly one such craft in an on-deck holographic simulation. For a young lad readying to graduate from education to be among technological marvels that he had personal experience around and to demonstrate his ability to his peers, nothing could have been more perfect in securing a lasting memory.
Years later, the now capable pilot of the New Melbourne Defense Force was no longer the bright-eyed intellectual that he had been during the entirety of his growing years. The many wars and conflicts that he had partaken in dimmed his view of the world, callousing the man of his early thirties to much of the world’s suffering. While he continued to study his engineering, most of his time was now spent in his craft either in the air or in the sea fighting the war that New Melbourne and New Sydney found themselves fighting between pirate forces that controlled nearby sea lanes and the military forces of New Melbourne and New Sydney. Engagement after engagement, Amyas Raeburn found himself in the midst of either tearing through the ocean, supercavitating at Mach one, or screaming through the skies at hypersonic speeds. He enjoyed the thrill of piloting his craft at such velocities in the various environments he found himself in, though he found himself becoming less fond of fighting for the military. Such conflicts with pirate forces never ended so long as even one charismatic member remained to lead the increasingly more organized and better equipped criminals. Not long after, the man that had been fighting for nearly a decade under the flag of his home of New Melbourne left the military in hopes of leading a more peaceful life.
Yet peace was never easily found and never readily available when someone desired it the most. Building and customizing his own craft from the resources afforded to him from Poseidon Shipyards and the knowledge granted to him from his parents, Amyas Raeburn became a capable privateer. Taking contracts from those willing to pay for his services, the solo flying pilot was either fighting for one person or defending something for another. On occasion he found himself running light courier jobs since his craft was not designed for cargo hauling, though rarely did he ever find himself contracted to work on an exploratory expedition. Still, he enjoyed the freedom that he had and always had a steady flow of money with a comfortable cushion to survive on.
So he continued, visiting his family on occasion while constantly out in the air or in the sea, doing what he enjoyed and staying where he loved. He accepted contract after contract, though kept his morals about him. Even now as he flew under the latest of his contracts, he maintained the high road as he flew under the banner of Poseidon’s Fury. Long now had he wanted to fight for its sister city of Acionna’s Sorrow. Long now, since the first he learned about it in school, had he wanted to fight against Kayurata to help end the tyranny that it held on the beaten and down-trodden city that was once a glimmering beacon of human ingenuity.
Personality:
Amyas Raeburn is a person of merit, measuring the abilities of others by what he is able to read on paper. This works well for him as a contractor, though often times does not work well when meeting people who had little in the way of history. Still, he often gave the benefit of the doubt to many, since he had learned that even young pilots in the navy were capable of teaching old dogs new tricks. Even so, at times he was known to express a warm and vibrant personality, but most occasions saw him as a stoic pilot sitting in the seat of his craft custom made at Poseidon Shipyards.
Character Traits:
Alert and capable pilot
Technically well versed and a capable engineer
Does not take kindly to people messing with his work
Does not take kindly to anyone interfering with his tasks
Loathes mechanics and engineers who are not able to perform their tasks well
Often becomes aggressive towards people who picks on others who are weak
Skills:
Amyas Raeburn is a pilot and engineer through and through. Capable of designing and building his own crafts with the knowledge of aero and hydrodynamics, materials science, and propulsion systems, the middle aged pilot has proved his worth more times than many care to count. He is a survivalist pure and simple with a broad knowledge of land and sea as well as knowing how to survive in both. He is a skilled user of firearms ranging from sidearms to marksman rifles, though once in the pilot seat of his strike craft he becomes a deadly being of grace, strength, and agility.
Equipment:
Rokh ASC
The Rokh Aerial/Submarine Craft is Amyas Raeburn’s custom designed strike craft capable of aerial and submarine operations. After piloting the strike craft of his parents’ design for the New Melbourne Defense Force, the A/S-32 Cyclone, Amyas found that it was a bit lacking for his taste. While it was more than capable of pushing the limits of what any pilot could handle, there were times where he wished that he could take it just a little deeper under water to disappear from his enemy or just a little higher into the troposphere to outrun his pursuers. To this end, his Rokh has yet to disappoint. Made from the latest materials and propulsion systems that engineers at Poseidon Shipyards have come up with, the Rokh is capable of deep dives of seven thousand meters, one thousand meters greater than the A/S-32 while still maintaining the ability to supercavitate. Its aerial flight allows it to travel up to twenty thousand meters with sustainable hypersonic velocities. Internally mounted armaments allows the Rokh to maintain a seamless profile to prevent drag with launch tubes for missiles capable of chasing down aerial and submarine targets and main rotary cannons with their own retractable covers.

Amyas’ Personal Equipment:
1x Poseidon Shipyards Mk. VII Pressurized Flight Suit
Poseidon Shipyards’ latest flight suit is little more than a overhaul of a previous model that had proven effective in the field. With an enhanced computer-controlled pressure system, the suit fully integrates with the seat of any craft created by Poseidon Shipyards. Capable of operating at the extreme crushing depths of the ocean floor, the Mk. VII has reserve air and power supply that can allow the pilot to last for up to twelve hours. While attached to the seat of the craft, the suit draws power and air directly from the craft and seals immediately once the pilot either removes him or herself from the seat or is forced out of the seat. Because of the operational theatres that naval pilots often find themselves in, the suit is capable of resisting both extreme positive and negative pressures in order to resist the effects of vacuum and extreme depths. This ability to regulate and resist pressure is aided by the protective nature of the Mk. VII as it is also resistant to ballistic impacts and knife impacts. Equipped with a controlled-ascent system, the suit can safely bring a pilot back to the surface while minimizing the effects of decompression. Aerial ejection out of a downed craft provides the pilot a ram-air tapered parachute that is in the ejection seat to allow for safe and controlled descent.
1x PS-12 Battle Rifle – Kept in his craft unless mission requires it
The PS-12 Battle Rifle is a rifle designed to be used by downed pilots and is mounted on the side of the ejection seat of each Poseidon Shipyards craft. The battle rifle is completely modular and is capable of sustained fire of up to 600 rounds a minute. Amyas prefers to keep his simple with a quick detach scope of variable magnification. The trigger mechanism, bolt, and stock have been modified to Amyas’ preference for improved handling.
Weapon Length: 762 mm
Barrel Length: 508 mm
Feed System: 30-round box magazine; bullpup configuration
Ammunition: 7.72x54mm; 212 grain; 1,021m/s muzzle velocity; 943m/s at 1000 meters
Sights: Fixed front post with adjustable rear tritium sights; rail mounted variable magnification tactical scope; 3x-12x
Loadout: 1 loaded magazine with 10 box reserve magazines
1x PS-4 Pistol – Kept on his person at all times
The PS-4 Pistol is the sidearm of choice for Amyas as it has good stopping power and good magazine size. He has a custom high capacity magazine as well as tritium sights for rapid target acquisition. The original grip was changed out for a rubberized one for improved handling while the trigger mechanism, recoil spring, recoil spring guide, and barrel were also changed out to Amyas’ preferences.
Weapon Length: 187 mm
Barrel Length: 103 mm
Feed System: 16-round double-stack box magazine
Ammunition: 10x30mm; 165 grain; 372m/s muzzle velocity
Sighs: Fixed front tritium with adjustable rear tritium sights
Loadout:
-- EDC: 1 loaded magazine with 2 reserve magazines
-- Combat: 1 loaded magazine with 5 reserve magazines
1x Combat Utility Knife
Amyas Combat Utility knife is a fixed-blade knife made from titanium carbide with a diamond edged blade. It is a gift from his father when Amyas graduated from the New Melbourne Defense Force Flight School and made, of course, at Poseidon Shipyards. It never leaves his side and is always within reach, even if he is showering.
Weapon Length: 302 mm
Blade Length: 181 mm
Appearance
Clothing: Amyas Raeburn is most often seen wearing rugged khaki pants of a thick, though lightweight fabric to help him survive the rigors of daily life. With his PS-4 sidearm holstered on his thigh with reserve magazines on his opposite thigh, he goes everywhere prepared. He is often seen wearing a brown top over which he wears his equipment strap for extra magazines, his knife’s sheath, and illumination equipment. On his belt he has a small pouch for miscellaneous equipment such as medical supplies as well as his communicator. He is not a fan of modern cybernetics so he refuses to get them.
Ancestry: Australian
Skin Tone: Tanned
Height: 180 cm

Body Build: Muscular/Athletic
Hair Color: Silvery brown
Eye Color: Hazel
Markings or Birthmarks: Other than age scarring, none
Looks:
Aged and matured, Amyas Raeburn definitely looks the part of a man in his mid-forties. With age scarring on his face and slight wrinkling, his fair skin is almost always tanned from constantly working in the sun. He has the strangely edged structure of someone who has lived life with the softness of a father who is willing to teach. The serene calm of the ocean’s surface exploded in a spray of liquid, raining down in a hundred meter radius back onto the sea beneath from whence the water came. The explosion of water settled down as in its wake came the roaring sound of twin hydrogen rockets, leaving behind it a short trail of vaporized water as a craft burst out from under the waves. Gaining altitude and speed, sleek-hulled vessel of broad delta wings connecting to a sturdy frame screamed through the skies on high as it climbed to a cruising altitude of 15,000 meters at an impossible velocity of Mach 8.
Amyas Raeburn sat quietly in his pilot’s seat, his light grey-blue flight suit tight against his body to protect him against the tremendous forces that he subjected himself and his Rokh to. His sidearm remained holstered on his thigh while the knife gifted to him by his father many years ago remained sheath on his chest. No matter where he went, whether on the land, in the sea, or in the air, that knife never left him. Much like no matter what, he was never without the strike craft that he now flew. Both items, both wonderfully crafted and beautifully engineered, had the significance to him regardless of the state at which both may become. If there was love in his life for anything other than his family, it was for these two inanimate objects that had served him well from their moment of conception.
Amyas leveled out his craft and looked around him, his breath slow and steady as he breathed in the artificial air supplied to him by his aircraft via his mask. He relaxed his grip on the throttle while maintaining a firm hold on the flight stick. His heart beat in its metronomic steadiness as he allowed himself to relax. The darkness of the skies above him contrasted gorgeously from the bright blue below him. This was where he found his freedom. Among the unreachable heights of where only few dared to travel alone and in the crushing depths of the sea far beneath was where his heart remained. With a sigh he relaxed all the more with something akin to sinking into his seat, even if he was as comfortably set into his seat as possible. He looked around him once more, his eyes taking in the solid wing behind him and allowed himself a gentle smile before returning his gaze to the front once more.
A sudden tone in his ear pulled him out of his silent reverie. The HUD displayed on his helmet’s visor soon became filled with text and a picture of a lonesome island in the middle of the South Pacific. His smile disappeared as his face once again became a mask of stoicism. Once more he was hired to perform a task that many others like him had made a living doing. Once again, he was the pilot that most feared and respected.
Once again, he was the privateer that he became a decade ago.
